Brazil officially opened its new research base in Antarctica, the Ferraz Antarctic Station, with a construction area of 4,500 square meters, almost twice the size of the old base, striking for its stylish architectural design and hotel-style accommodation for 64 people . The new site, located on the Keller Peninsula on King George Island, will contain 17 laboratories and will support a range of research in environmental microbiology, human physiology, paleontology and climate change.
